My Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
Philosophy and Approach: I believe that the key to helping my clients reach their most effective level of functioning starts with a strong therapeutic relationship. I begin therapy by developing trust and rapport through active listening, problem identification, and motivational interviewing. Once trust is established, then each therapeutic approach (cognitive, behavioral and affective) plays an important part in personal growth and maintenance. Cognitive methods remedy problems resulting from distorted thinking. Affective models address resolution of emotional turmoil. Behavioral methods focus on replacing symptoms with effective action. I help my clients function at their best by facilitating effective thinking, balancing emotional experience and self-worth, and applying capable responses to life’s challenges.
